We go beyond passive ‘do no harm’ principles and actively contribute to the protection and understanding of Komodo’s biodiversity.
- Financial Contributions: A portion of the revenue from every Komodo diving tour voyage is donated directly to our conservation partners, including the Komodo Survival Program and the Manta Trust.
- Citizen Science Integration: We empower our guests to become part of the solution. Our marine biologist guides train interested guests to identify manta rays and other key species, submitting photo-ID data to global research databases.
- Reef-Safe Practices: We enforce a strict policy of using only reef-safe sunscreens on all our voyages and provide complimentary samples to our guests. Our dive briefings, guided by PADI and SSI standards, heavily emphasize passive observation and perfect buoyancy to protect fragile corals.

- War on Plastics: We have a zero-tolerance policy for single-use plastics. Guests are provided with personalized reusable water bottles. All onboard provisions are stored in reusable containers, and we work with our suppliers in Labuan Bajo to reduce plastic packaging at the source.
- Comprehensive Waste Management: All waste generated on our vessels is meticulously segregated. Non-organic waste is compacted and transported back to certified waste management facilities on the mainland. We never discharge black or grey water within the sensitive areas of the park.
- Carbon Offsetting: We acknowledge the carbon footprint of travel. We calculate the emissions from our vessel operations and our clients’ domestic flights with partners like Garuda Indonesia, and we invest in certified Indonesian carbon offset projects, such as reforestation initiatives in Kalimantan, to render each voyage carbon-neutral.

Sustainable tourism must deliver tangible benefits to the local people who call this region home. We are committed to being a positive force for economic and social development.
- Local Employment & Training: Over 90% of our crew and ground staff are hired from local communities in Labuan Bajo and across Flores. We invest in their professional development, providing training in five-star hospitality, safety standards, and English language skills, creating long-term career paths.
- Sourcing Locally: We prioritize purchasing fresh produce, fish, and other supplies from local markets and farming cooperatives in West Manggarai. This not only provides our guests with the freshest ingredients but also directly supports the local economy.
- Respectful Cultural Engagement: We facilitate visits to traditional communities like Rinca and Papagarang with the utmost respect. We work with village elders to ensure that our visits are not disruptive and that the community benefits directly through a transparent fee structure and the ethical purchasing of authentic, locally made handicrafts.
