Komodo Diving Tours: Epic Day Trips & 3-Day Safaris from Labuan Bajo
What Is the Best Komodo Diving Tour Package?
The best Komodo diving tour package is a 3-day, 2-night liveaboard-style safari covering both the central and southern Komodo National Park, including 9 to 11 logged dives across Castle Rock, Crystal Rock, Batu Bolong, Manta Point, Manta Alley and Cannibal Rock, departing from Labuan Bajo on a chartered phinisi or speedboat. For divers with limited time, a single-day three-tank trip from Labuan Bajo covering Batu Bolong, Manta Point and Tatawa Besar offers an honest sample of central park conditions in roughly nine working hours. We sell three tiers below, all guided by instructor-rated leaders, all bundling marine park fees and tanks, and all running a 1-to-4 maximum guide-to-diver ratio.
Three Komodo Diving Tour Tiers Compared
The table below is the same internal pricing matrix our reservation team uses to quote new bookings. All prices are per certified diver, in USD, valid for 2026 dive seasons, and include marine park fees, tanks, weights, lunch, refreshments, instructor guide and round-trip Labuan Bajo hotel transfer. Equipment rental, nitrox upgrade and travel insurance are separate.
| Tier | Dives | Sites Covered | Transfers | Meals | Price per Diver |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Day Trip 3-Dive | 3 logged dives | Batu Bolong, Manta Point, Tatawa Besar OR Sebayur | Hotel-jetty-hotel by AC van | Lunch, fruit, water, tea | $185 |
| 2D1N Mini Safari | 6 logged dives + 1 night dive option | Batu Bolong, Castle Rock, Crystal Rock, The Cauldron, Manta Point, Sebayur | Hotel-marina-onboard-marina-hotel | 5 meals + cabin breakfast | $465 |
| 3D2N Full Park Safari | 9 to 11 logged dives | All central + Manta Alley, Cannibal Rock, German Flag, Wainilu (south) | Hotel-marina-phinisi-hotel | 9 meals + 2 cabin breakfasts | $795 |
Nitrox 32 upgrade costs $35 per diver per day. Full equipment rental (BCD, regulator with DIN or yoke, 3mm wetsuit, fins, mask, computer) costs $30 per diver per day. Underwater photography rental Olympus TG-7 with strobe is $25 per dive. We do not charge a fuel surcharge or a dynamic peak-season uplift, and we honour the published price for any booking confirmed at least 30 days before departure.
What Is Included in Every Tier
Every tier from day trip to 3D2N includes the Komodo National Park entrance fee at 250,000 IDR per diver per day, the conservation tax at 25,000 IDR per dive, the harbour master clearance, the camera permit if you bring a GoPro or housed camera, the trash-disposal levy and the boat ramp fee. We do not charge any of these at the dock. Every tier also includes oxygen and first-aid kit, satellite phone, captain and crew tips, sun shade on deck, fresh towels, freshwater rinse tank for camera gear and a documented dive plan briefing each morning. The 2D1N and 3D2N tiers include twin-share air-conditioned cabins on the phinisi or speedboat with private bathroom, hot freshwater shower and bunk-grade memory foam mattresses.
Day Trip 3-Dive: The Honest Sample
The Day Trip is for divers in transit who want to see Komodo without committing a full week. Pickup is 06:00 from your Labuan Bajo hotel, jetty departure 06:45, and we are diving Batu Bolong by 09:00 once tides align. Batu Bolong is a single rock pinnacle with vertical walls dropping to 70 metres, hard-coral cover at 80 percent, current rating moderate to strong, and resident schooling fusiliers, sweetlips and turtles. The second dive is Manta Point at Karang Makassar, a sandbar at 8 to 12 metres with predictable manta cleaning station activity, a beginner-friendly drift, and the only dive on this trip where Open Water divers with under 25 logged dives are comfortable. The third dive is Tatawa Besar or Sebayur Kecil depending on tide, both gentle reef drifts at 12 to 22 metres. Total water time: approximately 165 minutes across three dives.
2D1N Mini Safari: The Sweet Spot
The 2D1N is our most-booked tier and represents the best dives-per-dollar ratio. Day one departs Labuan Bajo at 09:00, dives Batu Bolong, Castle Rock and Crystal Rock by sunset, and anchors at Gili Lawa Laut for sunset cocktails and a sunrise hike the next morning. Day two dives The Cauldron at peak tide for the famous shotgun ride down the channel, then Manta Point and Sebayur on the way back to Labuan Bajo. Castle Rock is the headline dive: depth 5 to 35 metres, current rating strong, peak season for grey reef shark schooling April to October, and a current hook is required for divers wanting to anchor at the cleaning station. We will not allow divers with fewer than 50 logged dives to attempt Castle Rock at peak tide.
3D2N Full Park Safari: The Complete Picture
The 3D2N is the only tier that reaches the southern park. Day one matches the 2D1N central itinerary. Day two morning we run Castle Rock and Crystal Rock at the optimal slack-tide window, then sail south through the Lintah Strait to anchor at Horseshoe Bay for the afternoon and second night. Day three dives Cannibal Rock, German Flag and Manta Alley before heading north back to Labuan Bajo. Cannibal Rock is the most colourful dive in Indonesia in our team’s collective opinion: hard and soft coral cover at 90 percent, frogfish, pygmy seahorse, and the bizarre crinoid forest. Manta Alley delivers resident reef manta encounters at depth 5 to 18 metres, with peak aggregation October to February. Water temperature in the southern park drops to 22 to 24 degrees Celsius and we strongly recommend a 5mm full-length wetsuit with hood for this tier.
Who Is the Komodo Diving Tour For (and Who It Is Not For)
Our Komodo diving tour packages are designed for certified PADI or SSI Open Water and above with a minimum 15 logged dives within the past 24 months. Advanced Open Water with deep and drift specialty endorsement is strongly preferred for the 3D2N tier. We do not accept Discover Scuba Diving guests, Open Water students mid-certification, or divers with a logged inactive period exceeding 24 months without a refresher dive at our Labuan Bajo training pool first. We also do not accept divers under the age of 12 or over the age of 70 without a current dive medical clearance. Pregnant divers are not permitted to dive but may join as snorkel guests at a 50 percent fare reduction.
Booking Timeline, Deposit and Cancellation
Bookings require a 30 percent non-refundable deposit at confirmation, with the balance due 14 days before departure. Cancellations between 30 and 14 days lose the deposit only. Cancellations within 14 days forfeit the full fare unless we can resell your slot, in which case we refund 50 percent. Force majeure including pandemic-related travel restrictions, volcanic eruption disruption to Bali transit and Komodo park closures triggers full credit toward a future booking valid for 36 months. We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Wise transfer, and Indonesian local bank transfer. Crypto payment in USDT or USDC on the Tron or Solana network is accepted with a 30-day deposit hold.
Why Choose Komodo Diving Tour Voyages
We are based in Labuan Bajo year-round, our captains and guides hold over 11,000 logged Komodo dives between them, and we maintain a documented incident-free record across 4,800 guest dives over nine seasons. Our boats are inspected annually by the Indonesian Class Bureau and carry full marine and liability insurance. We publish honest current-strength ratings on every site, we do not oversell beginner divers into expert sites, and we cap our daily group size at 16 divers across two tenders to keep noise and bubble disruption low at popular cleaning stations. If you want a complete picture of the dive sites involved, see our guide to Komodo’s top 15 dive sites. For a head-to-head on the two flagship sites, read Castle Rock vs Crystal Rock.
